Williams are attending L2881 Finance Training in Sacramento at our Local 2881 Union Hall. This class goes over our District VI Budget and auditing the previous year. This class is imperative to the day to day operations of our District, and a required class in our union training matrix to attend.

From Feb 7th-9th 2023 most of the District VI Executive Staff is up at Sacramento Local 2881 HQ attending New Officer Training. Attending this training from District VI:

District Deputy Vice Presidents: Cameron Baber, Danny Kitt and Jorge Segura

Membership Services: Chad Ayotte

District Vice President: Tyler L. Williams

These next couple months, Union Officers will be attending mandatory classes up in Sacramento such as: Finance Training, Representation Class, Advanced Leadership, Family Liasion, and Membership Support. These classes are vital for Union Officers to attend to make our District Union Officers stronger everyday.

Last week, Local 2881 District 6 union officer Eric Castellanos attended a Riverside Sheriffs’ Association (RSA) event at their local union hall. There were many elected officials in attendance including District Attorney Hestrin and representatives from Riverside City Firefighters Local 1067 and Corona Firefighters Local 3757 just to name a few. Being involved and attending these types of events are important to be able to build and grow relationships and show support for our fellow public safety brothers and sisters. These meetings lasted 3 days going over various topics including an update on our current Bargaining Team positions. I am deeply saddened to report that yesterday CAL FIRE firefighter Yaroslav Katkov, 29, suffered from a medical emergency while on a training hike with his engine crew and passed away this morning despite the diligent efforts of medical staff. He is survived by his mother, father and brother. He was assigned to the CAL FIRE / San Diego County Fire Station 16 in the community of De Luz. Yaro was airlifted by the CAL FIRE / San Diego County Sheriff Department helicopter and air ambulance to Temecula Valley Hospital in Riverside County in critical condition. Yaro started his career with CAL FIRE on August 18, 2018 as a seasonal firefighter. Please join me in keeping Yaro and his loved ones in your thoughts. I am directing the lowering of flags at all CAL FIRE facilities to half-staff and for all uniform personnel to shroud their badges until further notified. Chief Thom Porter CAL FIRE Director

The local weather effect commonly known as the Elsinore Effect has kicked in about 2 pm. The Holy Fire is now burning down hill into Riverside County. L2881 Riverside firefighters today marks an anniversary of a tragic event.
L2881 this picture represents a thermostat in a newly remodeled fire station in the City of Temecula. L2881 members should be aware that 73's firehouse was remodeled, although the new design has some added benefits, L2881 firefighters clearly are working in an unhealthy condition. This started all started with a premature move by a battalion chief that accepted a fire station that has clear flaws. Unfortunately a personal agenda and opinion has consequences that are effecting firefighters who have been at work for weeks without sleep. Incompetence and negligence prove how we are treated by our superiors. Continued decisions and actions from this battalion chief have demonstrated a personal agenda.
